Abstract
This chapter explores TikTok as a site for applied theatre. TikTok’s custom-curatorial algorithm specifically pushes content to like-minded communities. As such, it offers a venue for theatre that works to reach marginalized communities. This chapter analyzes TikTok as a case study to explore how women and non-binary Shakespeare fans use TikTok as a revolutionary form of digital and applied theatre. This autoethnographic work draws from the authors’ ongoing project (Yassified Shakespeare) in which the authors make use of TikTok’s digital vaudeville space to draft queer and femme-centric content about Shakespeare.
