Abstract
The structure of the product of condensation of gossypol with (−)- α-phenylethylamine has been determined. It has been shown that a possible cause of the difficulty in separating racemic gossypol into optically active components is not a racemization of (−)- α-phenylethylamine on its condensation with gossypol but the high tendency of gossypol and its derivatives to form dimers.
