Abstract

This paper explores the implications of economic efficiency in the organization of time of a two adult household. Each person has five potential uses of time: remunerative employment, personal leisure, work within the household, leisure time spent jointly with another household member and time spent shopping. Constructing a pair of models which examine the allocation problem under certain conditions affecting opportunities and technologies. Authors then use the models to examine the allocation problem under certain conditions affecting opportunities and technologies, then use the models to examine patterns of time allocation of household duties.
