Abstract

Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) microscopy represents a highly useful imaging method for assessing nanometer-scale associations within the living cells. It involves the monitoring of the fluorescence of an acceptor fluorophore when energy is transferred from an excited fluorophore. FRET microscopy can be used to detect protein-protein interactions as well as conformational changes in engineered reporter constructs. A wavelet transform-based approach was proposed to detect and quantify changes in functional cellular microdomains.
