Abstract

In this study, efficient wavelength reservation policies that specifically address the signaling overhead in distributed control are designed and evaluated. Focus is on the application of these policies to two representative approaches called Path Multiplexing (PM) and Link Multiplexing (LM) applicable to either TDM or WDM networks. In WDM networks, PM requires wavelength-continuity paths while LM does not but requires wavelength conversion at each switching node instead.
