Abstract

The one-component Coulomb plasma is studied with variational wavefunctions. The ground-state wavefunction is calculated by an optimization procedure, which leads, at the same time, to the construction of effective interactions and the single-particle spectrum, and to a systematic way to determine the dynamic response function.
