Use of the Bay Area Functional Performance Evaluation with eating disordered patients

This paper describes the use of the Bay Area Functional Performance Evaluation Task Oriented Assessment (BaFPE TOA) with patients diagnosed with eating disorders. The BaFPE TOA was designed to measure functional status of psychiatric patients. Percentile ranges are presented for BaFPE TOA total scores for 111 anorexic, bulimic, atypical eating disordered, and non-eating disordered patients so that therapists who use this evaluation will be able to report individual patient scores against the performance of this sample. In addition, a table of means and standard deviations is presented for the BaFPE TOA items under the three major components: Cognitive, Performance, and Affective. A table of percentile scores for each of the major components is also included. The clinical application of the BaFPE TOA with this population is discussed.
