Abstract

The coumarins have shown sufficient activity against metastatic renal cell carcinoma to warrant further investigations. Such investigations include trials as single agents and combination drug trials with such agents as cimetidine, other biological agents such as alpha-interferon and interleukin-2, and/or chemotherapeutic agents. The low toxicity of coumarin allows it to be combined with other drugs, potentially, without amplifying toxicity and with the hope of increasing clinical efficacy. A future trial of comarin, or 7-hydroxycoumarin, as adjuvant therapy for renal cell carcinoma is particularly appealing.
