CHD has a high co-occurrence rate with neurodevelopmental disorders. • Families of these children experience higher rates of clinically significant stress. • Physicians need more education on surveillance, screening and referral of ASD. • Training programs benefit by including interprofessional education opportunities. • Program directors can improve training curriculum on ASD and family stress.
