Three-Component Determinations Using Fluorescence Anisotropy Measurements and Wavelength Selectivity

Abstract

Fluorescence anisotropy measurements at a series of excitation wavelengths were used to simultaneously determine three anthracene derivatives in mixtures containing from one to three of the derivatives in frozen glycerol solutions. The results are compared with results obtained using nonpolarizatlon measurements of fluorescence intensity at the same series of excitation wavelengths. Average error magnitudes obtained for the determinations using anisotropy measurements were significantly smaller than those obtained for the nonpolarization determinations, indicating the superior selectivity achieved between these three components using the anisotropy approach.
