Abstract

Regioselective 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of (phenylsulfonyl)nitrile oxide to acrolein dimethylacetal gave the isoxazole 3. Nucleophilic displacement of the phenylsulfonyl moiety followed by reductive N-O bond cleavage gave the amidine acetal 6.
