The state of play: Education for information literacy

This poster presents the results of a national survey of information literacy instruction goals, methods, topics, and management in Canadian academic (university and college) libraries. The survey, in English and French, was available online, and invitations to participate were sent directly to individual libraries and staff with instructional responsibilities. A total of 510 invitations were sent. At the time of writing, the survey was still open, so the response rate is unknown. The data are the latest in a longitudinal analysis of information literacy instructional work in this context, started in 1995. Results of the current survey are compared against those from the earlier surveys. The value of this data set lies in its potential to inform practitioners' instructional work, to educate students of information science about current practice, and to identify opportunities for improvement.
