Abstract

The rotating platinum ring-disk electrode has been used to establish the conditions necessary for performing simultaneous stripping analysis for Cu(II) and Ag(I). A procedure is given for the simultaneous determination of Cu(II) and Ag(I) by stripping analysis using less than one monolayer CuAg deposits and greater than one monolayer CuAg deposits. If the deposit thickness is less than one monolayer, copper and silver strip in separate potential regions (0 to +0.4 and +0.4 to +1.0 V respectively) while if the deposit thickness exceeds one monolayer, first copper strips (-0.1 to +0.2 V) followed by a mixture of copper and silver (+0.2 to +0.5 V), and finally pure silver (+0.5 to +1.0 V).
