Abstract
I would like to present a pragmatic analysis of Spanish mood in knowledge and acquisition-of-knowledge predicate sentences which I believe is far more descriptive than other proposals known to me. My treatment differs significantly both from traditional accounts and more current treatments, particularly from that given to the same phenomenon by J.B. Hooper and T. Terrell within their broader theory of mood selection in Spanish sentential complements. Their proposal will serve on the other hand as a point of departure for the discussion.
