Abstract

Although various genres of popular fiction have incorporated the theme of serial murder successfully in recent years, more traditional forms of detective fiction have not done so. The incompatibility of serial murder and traditional detective fiction is not surprising, as serial murder has a number of characteristics that are antithetical to the conventions of the traditional detective fiction genre.¹
