Abstract
The impact of dinstitutionalization efforts upon a community-based service system is assessed. Changes in the characteristics of clients seeking services, the types of services needed, and the nature of inter-agency relations are explored. Results of the study indicate that not only are increased numbers of formerly institutionalized persons seeking service but that the needs of this population are different and more intensive when compared to other clientele. The need for continued research of this type in order to guide planning for future support services is indicated.
