Abstract

There are mounting indications that social workers are beginning lo show interest in utilizing computer technology in practice. Based on this interest and the rapid proliferation of easily accessible software, it is an appropriate time to raise questions about the process of software development and dissemination. These issues are carefully examined following a brief summary of computer applications pertinent to social work practice. In conclusion the authors address ways in which the profession can take an active lead in exercising responsible control over the technology used in providing social work services.
