Abstract
In this article, one second-grade classroom experienced community building though crochet-related activities. We show how this teacher knit student enthusiasm for crocheting with authentic reading and writing activities across the language arts and social studies curriculum to weave a classroom identity that intertwined social responsibility with student creativity, cooperation, and empowerment.
