Abstract
Using a version of the chiral invariant σ-model, it is shown that many-body forces can eliminate the discrepancy between calculated and empirical values of the binding energy and equilibrium density of nuclear matter. Simple techniques for including such many-body forces in conventional nuclear matter calculations are suggested.
