Abstract

The linear optical properties of commercial semiconductor-doped glasses were measured by absorption and by photoluminescence spectroscopy. Here we place emphasis on their temperature dependence, with the aim of characterizing the trap states in these systems. The dynamics of electron-hole-trap interaction are investigated, together with the band structure. Three major traps were identified from the temperature dependence of the photoluminescence signals. A model for the recombination mechanism is given.
