Abstract
This article reports on a study of the reaction of teachers in a secondary school to the rapid introduction by a community group of a computer laboratory connected to the Internet. Informed by current research in classrooms, the researchers used survey, observational, and interview data to examine how teachers approached the availability of such resources. They found that district policy helping to guide the introduction of the technology into the curriculum was absent, that teachers required time to understand how the technology could be integrated into the curriculum, and that traditional inservice strategies needed to be adapted.
