Abstract

Sequences 1–16 and 63–95 of C. lacteus toxin AIII were synthesized on benz‐hydrylamine and PAM resins respectively; the crude peptide products released by HF contained 90 and 33% of the target peptides. Fragment 63–95 was nearly a full agonist, producing > 90% of the hemolytic activity of the intact toxin molecule at 103‐fold higher concentrations. Fragment 1–16 had no activity.
