Abstract

A stereoselective synthesis of Gal-β-(1→4)-6-O-SO₃Na-GlcNac-β-(1→6)-Man- α-OR (as a part of gp 120) containing an anomeric p-nitrophenyl group was accomplished through the use of ethyl 3,4,6-tri-O-chloroacetyl-2-deoxy-2-phthalimido-1-thio-β-D-glucopyra noside.
