Abstract

Tert-butyl α-methacrylate (TBMA) was synthesized by alcoholysis reaction of α-methylacryloyl chloride with tert-butyl alcohol. It was characterized by GC/MS, IR and NMR. Furthermore, through the study of anionic polymerization of TBMA, it was found that TBMA can undergo living anionic polymerization at 10°C using 1,1-diphenyl hexyl lithium (DPHL) as initiator.
