Abstract
The results of surface complexation modeling (SCM) for two soils washing under different solution chemistry conditions are presented. As shown, the soil treatment for metal removal is affected by various factors such as pH, extractant type and concentration, temperature, etc. A simple SCM approach consisting of one surface complex with lead and one ternary complex allowed to reproduce experimental lead desorption edges over a wide range of pH, ionic strength, and ligand concentrations. It is found that the desorption (metal removal) parameters are dominated by ligands added during soil washing process.
