Abstract

In this paper, physical model of typical defects in GIS are established, and their PD characteristics are studied using pulsed-current method. The results show that the PRPD patterns, time domain waveforms, average amplitude and central-phase changing of PD signals are quite different between different types of defects while have very similar distribution characteristics within the same kind of defect. Thus effective recognition of PD types and deeper study of the mechanism of PD would be possible based on the result of this paper.
