Stimulated Rayleigh-Kerr scattering from a CS2 liquid-core fiber system

Abstract

A superbroadening stimulated scattering has been observed from a CS2 liquid-core hollow quartz fiber system with a long gain length. Its salient feature is different from the previously reported phenomena in liquid such as the spectral broadening of difference frequency modulation, self-broadening, and stimulated Rayleigh-wing scattering, and it cannot be explained by previously suggested theories. The experimental procedure is described, and the normalized spectral distributions of the coherent forward output radiation for different input pump levels are shown and discussed . A theoretical approach that gives good agreement with the experimental results is proposed.
