Abstract
An account is given on processes determining the steady-state population of longitudinal optical (LO) phonons being intensively produced in the quantum well of a GaAs/GaAlAs heterostructure by electrons accelerated by a strong external electric field. The stimulated feedback of longitudinal acoustic (LA) phonons on the LO decay processes is demonstrated by tracing the stages of decay and propagation of these LA resulting phonons.
