Abstract
Some effects of ovine prolactin on plasma and muscle intracellular compositions in seawater-acclimated Sarotherodon mossambicus are described. Plasma electrolyte concentrations and intracellular potassium concentration increased significantly after five daily prolactin treatments. Increases in plasma concentrations resulted predominantly from electrolyte accumulation whereas the increased intracellular potassium concentration resulted from dehydration.
