Abstract
A control technique based on sliding mode (variable structure) control using the modified Rodrigues parameters is applied to attitude pointing. The technique makes rotations of up to 360 degrees possible and the parameters used form a minimal parameterization. Computer simulations show that the new algorithm can accurately control the attitude of a spacecraft for large angle maneuvers.
