Abstract

We have simulated the modulation characteristics of several Ti : LiNbO3 waveguide devices. For the electrooptic effect, we consider both the spatial dependence of the modulation field and the approximation that the modulation field is uniform. Both the three-dimensional beam propagation method (3D BPM) and the two-dimensional beam propagation method (2D BPM) with effective index are used in simulations. The results of simulations and measured device performance, if available, are compared.
