Abstract
This entry provides an overview of and working definition for the broad science of sexual communication. Specifically, this entry depicts the four general groupings of research exploring variables tied to sexual attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors. These include (i) bio-physiological variables, (ii) sociocultural variables, (iii) mediated variables, and (iv) strategic interaction. Descriptions of each body of work are provided, along with samples of the sexual communication research they entail.
