Abstract

This report describes the photoconductivity in PPA sensitized with the dyes pyronin Y and methylene blue, which sensitize the photoresponse in the region of the dyes' absorption bands and desensitize it elsewhere. The major photoconductivity mechanism is concluded to be the injection of electrons that are photogenerated in the dye into the conducting states of the polymer, followed by transport through the polymer by a trap-modulated bandlike mechanism.
