Abstract
A semi-active fluid damping control system for protection of structures subjected to earthquake induced motion is described in this paper. The control system consists of semi-active fluid dampers which were developed by modifying existing passive fluid dampers such that they would behave as adjustable damping elements. The dampers were utilized in the control of a building model subjected to earthquake motion on a shaking table. The results of the shaking table tests indicated that the semi-active control system was capable of significantly reducing the response of the structure.
