Abstract
The flux-pinning force density Fp= |Jc×H| in thin films of Y-Ba-Cu-O has been studied as a function of magnetic field, temperature, and chemical doping. Two peaks in Fp were found with field perpendicular to the film. The field dependence of Fp around each peak is shown to follow a scaling law in terms of properly normalized variables which account for all the variations with temperature and chemical doping in the cases investigated. This scaling behavior thus greatly simplifies the usual complex description of flux pinning in high temperature superconductors.
