Abstract
Let G be a compact complex Lie group with Lie algebra G′ and let Aμ∈C0∝(R4,G′) be a gauge potential. We construct a gauge covariant local quantum field operator φ which solves the equation [(∂μ + iAμ) (∂μ + iAμ) + m2]φ = 0 and is a free field in the distant past or future. The associated scattering theory is described by a unitary gauge-invariant S operator.
