Abstract

The study of the role of moisture in the Seebeck effect in cement-based materials is discussed. Four types of cement paste including plain cement paste, silica-fume cement paste, carbon-fiber silica fume cement paste with carbon fibers of 0.5% by mass of cement, and carbon-fiber silica-fume cement paste with carbon fibers of 1.0% by mass of cement were prepared. It was observed that the carbon fiber increased the weight loss. The effect of fibers on the weight loss was observed to be small when compared to the effect of silica fume on the weight loss.
