Abstract
The phase transition in the octafluoronaphthalene crystal is investigated by Raman spectroscopy. Major changes take place in the phonon region while the intramolecular vibrations show only mild effects. The results obtained here are not consistent with the previously reported mechanism of the phase transition. The possible nature of the phase transition is discussed to explain present observations.
