Abstract
Statistical key exchange relies on signals with irreducible randomness to covertly transmit information. Because of causality, there may be disturbances during the transient turn-on, which can pose as a security risk. Linear prediction and the GerchbergPapoulis methods are used to analyze the risk quantitatively. With properly generated signals, the probability of leak during the transient turn-on is found to be comparable to that of the steady state. The transient signal does not pose as an additional security risk.
