Abstract

The application of highly-porous sputter deposited platinum dioxide films as precursor to high specific surface area platinum electrodes was investigated. The films provide a convenient alternative to electrochemically planitized electrodes. Reduction of the oxide is readily accomplished through exposure to hydrogen or by electrochemistry.
