Abstract

The effects of Poloxamer hydrogel formulation parameters on the drug release kinetics were studied, focusing on the diffusion vs. erosion contribution to the overall drug release. In particular, the Poloxamer hydrogel formulation was varied by changing the Poloxamer concentration and the drug loading in the hydrogel formulation. The rheological properties of the Poloxamer gels with varying Poloxamer concentration and drug loading were monitored. The rheology data revealed that at higher Poloxamer concentrations, a stronger gel forms.
