Pediatric Hodgkin Lymphoma

Pediatric Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) has a distinct presentation, natural history, and response to therapy compared to the adult counterpart. Fortunately, most children with HL present with early-stage disease and have a high cure rate with chemotherapy, with or without radiation therapy. In recent decades, attempts to lessen the burden of therapy with subsequent reduction in late effects has been successful. Treatment is far more individualized and takes into account prognostic and clinical factors at initial presentation as well as the early response to therapy. Technical factors in radiation therapy delivery such as deep inspiration breath-hold and proton therapy can reduce the risk of associated treatment effects.
