Abstract
The present study involves a different application of membranes in reactors. Here, the membrane is used to allow the intermediate product to escape from the catalyst bed through the reactor walls instead of flowing through the remainder of the bed where it is subject to subsequent reaction. After this initial investigation, a parametric study was conducted to determine which of the parameters were most important. In this parametric study, no restrictions were placed upon the parameters. The effect of each parameter is discussed.
