Abstract

1. 1. Oxygen consumptionof hepatopancreas tissues from seven species of Florida crabs varied between 565 and 162 μl O2/g wet wt.-hr or 2·22-0·55 μl O2/mg dry wt.-hr. These rates appear lower than those from crabs of more northern latitudes. 2. 2. Water content of the hepatopancreas varied from 64·7 to 76·8 per cent.
