Abstract
A discussion is presented of how an integrated approach involving Group Technology (GT) and an MRP system, modified to suit a particular environment, can be adopted to optimize operations fully in intermittent production systems. A description is presented of the operation of an MRP system within a Group Technology framework in an automobile ancillary industry in India.
