N2 - This chapter looks at the intersection of intelligence and ontologies and semantic technologies, and tries to characterize the impact of these in the future. It provides a view into some emerging technologies such as query languages and rule standards for the Semantic Web. It also provides some guidance from a different domain, the biomedical domain, and tries to show that realist ontologies, ontologies based on common real world characterizations, have an effective impact on applications in those domains. Finally, it looks at the potential impact of these technologies on intelligence collection and analysis in the future, and makes some predictions.
