Abstract
1. 1. Cytochrome P-450 was detected in the hepatopancreas of Homarus americanus. 2. 2. The cytochrome was identified (a) by the characteristic 450 nm spectral peak of its carbon monoxide complex; (b) by conversion to the P-420 form on treatment with potassium thiocyanate; and (c) by giving characteristic type I spectra when interacted with ethylmorphine or hexobarbital, and type II spectra with aniline or nicotinamide.
