Abstract
Information seeking research has provided models across different contexts in order to depict the phenomena and processes of users in their search for information. Yet, no recognized model or generalization of the digital video information-seeking process exists. The current study seeks to address this gap. Areas such as image information seeking have been examined, and existing research in these related areas demonstrates potential to support progress in digital video information seeking. In the current study, variables were adapted from an existing image seeking model and incorporated into a survey to measure their representation of video information seeking. The goal of the current analysis is to quantitatively measure and validate the phases of a selected image seeking model as also representing underlying factors of an information seeking process for digital video if adapted accordingly. Further, correlations between extracted factors were also tested in order to measure the interrelationships as part of a larger representation of digital video seeking. Results supported the factors as being representative of digital video information seeking and also produced significant correlations between them. Implications of these findings address the central research problem, in that a generalized representation of digital video information seeking has been examined and supported through the adaptation and evaluation of an existing model.
