Abstract

A design method for amplifying composite right/left-handed (CRLH) transmission lines using negative resistance reflection amplifiers is presented in this letter. The introduction of the negative resistance in the shunt branch amplifies the traveling wave while maintaining the bidirectionality and the dispersion characteristics of the CRLH transmission line. Design methodology and calculation are backed up with full-wave simulation and measurement of a negative resistance enabled amplifying CRLH transmission line.
