Abstract

The surface plasmon (SP)-induced local field enhancement was analyzed using photon scanning tunneling microscope (PSTM). It was demonstrated that a subdiffraction-limited optical resolution can be achieved with SP resonance PSTM. It was also shown that SP resonance PSTM allows a direct observation of fluorescence enhancement and photodecomposition of fluorophores deposited on metallic surface.
